Norway aids renovation of Leskovac court building

BELGRADE - As of today, judges of the Basic Court in Leskovac have all the facilities required for efficient work, Serbian Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic said Wednesday after visiting the newly renovated court building in Leskovac, the ministry said in a release.

Selakovic expressed his deepest gratitude to the Kingdom of Norway for supporting the reconstruction of the court building in Leskovac through the project "Improving the Delivery of Justice in Serbia" and noted that this is the only basic court in Serbia able to provide conditions for the protection of victims of violence as plaintiffs or parties to the proceedings.

The Kingdom of Norway also supported the renovation of the Basic Court in Uzice, Higher Courts in Belgrade and Novi Sad, as well as the clerk's office at the High Judicial Council, Selakovic added.
"The Ministry of Justice has prepared the plan for the reconstruction, adaptation and development of judicial infrastructure in Serbia, and the realization of this plan started with the opening of the First Basic Court - Civil Division in New Belgrade," the release cites the minister as saying.

The implementation of this plan will continue not only through investments in Belgrade, but also in other judicial institutions across Serbia, he added.

Besides Selakovic, the opening ceremony was attended by Norwegian Ambassador to Serbia Nils Ragnar Kamsvag.
