Record electricity production at Djerdap 1 hydropower plant

KLADOVO - The Djerdap 1 hydropower plant near Kladovo, eastern Serbia, produced 557 million kWh of electricity in September, which is a record figure in terms of electricity production in the 42 years' long history of the plant.

The production plan was exceeded by as many as 120 percent, since 557 million kWh have been produced instead of the planned 253 million kWh.

Since the beginning of the year, the hydropower plant delivered 4.3 billion kWh to the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) which is by 14 percent more than planned for this period.

The dynamic production plan for the entire year totals 4.7 billion kWh of electricity and we expect to reach it soon so that we can definitely end this year with surplus electricity delivery compared to plans, Director of the Djerdap hydropower plant Ljubisa Jokic told Tanjug.

According to him, the flow adds up to 8,750 cubic metres of water per second and the water is being discharged from the accumulative lake through production process and via two spillways.

The biggest Serbian hydropower plant daily outputs 19.5 million kWh of electricity.
