Mogherini hopes for soon continuation of dialogue
BRUSSELS - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini stated after a meeting with Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic in Brussels that she hopes that the dialogue on normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina will continue as soon as possible.
I hope that the high-level dialogue will continue quickly, but the EU expects that meanwhile Belgrade and Pristina will continue to work on the implementation of the Brussels agreement, Mogherini told reporters on Tuesday.
The high representative said that she and Dacic discussed Serbia's foreign policy, stressing that it needs to be progressively aligned with that of the EU.
Mogherini said that the talks with Dacic also touched on Serbia's forthcoming OSCE presidency.
We agreed that the Ukrainian crisis is the first priority, and that it should be tackled in line with the basic principles of the OSCE, the high representative said.
Mogherini underlined that she supports the EU enlargement process, adding that it will not be slowed down during her term of office despite the fact that no country will join the EU during that period, reads a statement issued by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She said that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue at the political level should be continued as soon as possible, stressing that she will participate in it personally.
Mogherini underlined the importance of Serbia's OSCE presidency in 2015, bearing in mind the role of this organization in the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
Dacic underlined that during the OSCE presidency, Serbia will use all available means to help the Minsk Process and encourage a peaceful solution.
