The Supreme Court of Justice on Friday denied an appeal against preventive detention filed by former head of the Directorate for Organised Crime and Terror Investigation (DIICOT) Alina Bica.

The court also denied the challenges of three other persons detained with Bica, namely expert evaluator Emil Nutiu, Lacrimioara Alexandru and Dragos Bogdan.

On November 22, Alina Bica, Emil Nutiu, Lacrimioara Alexandru and Dragos Bogdan were placed under a 30-day preventive detention.

The four were members on the Central Board for Claims with the National Authority for Property Returning (ANRP), which in March 2011 approved RON 377,282,300 to be paid out to businessman Stelian Gheorghe in damages for a plot of land of 13.0535 ha located in the Plumbuita area of Bucharest City, although the land was worth much less.

Also placed under preventive detention in this case was former ANRP head Crinuta Dumitrean. AGERPRES
