10 applications for Smederevo steel factory

BELGRADE -- Investors have submitted ten applications for the privatization of the government-owned steel company Zelezara, Economy Minister Zeljko Sertic has said.

He announced on Wednesday that the government would adopt the decision on the privatization model in the next few days, after which it will issue a public call for participation in the privatization process.

Speaking at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Sertic said that the deadline for submission of bids ended on Tuesday and added that the government will try to make Zelezara operative because it is potentially the most important point that can contribute to GDP increase.

The government will do all it can to make Zelezara functional and operative both within the economy of Smederevo and the entire country, Sertic said.
