Baroque Christmas magic at Kolarac
BELGRADE - The Studio For Early Music, headed by world-renowned musician Predrag Gosta, will late Tuesday perform a concert featuring works created by baroque composers in celebration of the Christmas holidays.
The programme of the concert, to be held at the Kolarac Endowment in Belgrade, includes works by masters such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Arcangelo Corelli, Francesco Manfredini, Guiseppe Torelli, Johann Christoph Pez, Jean-Baptiste Lully and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
The chamber ensemble will be led by Gosta, who will conduct it in a manner similar to that of Handel or Bach, performing on the harpsichord at the same time.
London-based violinist Ivana Cetkovic will make an appearance as a special guest.
The Belgrade Baroque Soloists, established a few months ago, have a repertoire that focuses on 17th and 18th century music and perform on original instruments from the era or on replicas.
The ensemble is headed by Gosta, one of the most highly recognised experts on early music and the founder of New Trinity Baroque - one of the most influential US-based orchestras performing on historical instruments.
Under his guidance, the world's leading orchestras have performed works ranging from the baroque to the modern era. He recently also recorded a CD with the London Symphony Orchestra, to be released in January.
Entrance is free of charge and the concert starts at 8 pm.
