FM in Montenegro: Brotherly peoples, sisterly states

PODGORICA -- OSCE Chairman and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has said that "Belgrade and Serbia" want Montenegro to join the EU as soon as possible.

Dacic made this statement on Tuesday after meeting with his Montenegrin counterpart Igor Luksic in Podgorica, and added "Serbia will, during its OSCE chairmanship, give full support to Montenegro."

"Our mission in Montenegro indicated that there has been a number of realized joint projects, and this is precisely the essence of the existence of the OSCE mission. I am pleased to note that we will give full support to Montenegro for what it has done so far, as well as what remains to be done," he said.

Serbia, Dacic recalled, has set Western Balkans as a priority of its presidency.

"This means regional cooperation between countries, so I would thank Montenegro for signing a declaration of the International Commission on Missing Persons," Dacic said.

The Serbian minister was on an official visit to Montenegro in his OSCE capacity, and he and Luksic also agreed that relations between Serbia and Montenegro are "relaxed," the Montenegrin public broadcaster RTCG said.

After talking to OSCE representatives in Montenegro and with Luksic, Dacic said he was "satisfied with the cooperation."

Luksic for his part "expressed his satisfaction over the fact Serbia chairs the OSCE, and with the cooperation with this organization."
