Iohannis, to CCR judges: You represent a pillar of democracy in Romania

President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday congratulated Simona Maya Teodoroiu at ceremony in which she was sworn in the office of judge with the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) and told the Court representatives that they represent "a pillar of democracy."

"Mrs judge, I congratulate you and wish you success in this noble mission of judge with the Constitutional Court of Romania. It is obvious that together with your colleagues you will care for the observance of Romania's Constitution," Iohannis said at the Cotroceni Palace.

The head of state underscored that the role of CCR is important in consolidating democracy in Romania.

"It is important to underscore, Mr President Zegrean, esteemed judges of the Constitutional Court that, in my opinion, you represent what we might call a pillar of democracy in Romania. I believe the work you do is extremely important in consolidating democracy in Romania and I encourage you to go further will all the determination, with all the responsibility, with all the dignity and to continue to prove that you know how to deal with any kind of difficult situations. I wish you plenty of success!," the President said.

Simona Maya Teodoroiu was sworn in as judge with the Constitutional Court of Romania at the Cotroceni Palace on Thursday. CCR President Augustin Zegrean, members of the Court, Senate President Calin Popescu Tariceanu and Deputies' Chamber Vice President Florin Iordache participated in the ceremony.

She was designated to occupy this office through the voting in the Senate on Wednesday. The office was vacant after the resignation of Toni Grebla. AGERPRES
