Dacic meets with Wang, Ban, Lavrov, Klimkin in New York

NEW YORK - OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, who is in New York to take part in UN activities, has met with the foreign ministers of key countries, including his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, whose country chairs the UN Security Council this month.

We discussed the bilateral relations between Serbia and China, once again expressing satisfaction with, and revisiting, our summit that was held in Belgrade in December, while also noting our joint strategic orientation towards developing our bilateral relations and building infrastructure projects, Dacic said after Monday's meeting.

He said that the Chinese foreign minister briefed him on the discussions that China's prime minister has held with the prime minister of Greece to resolve issues of significance to those infrastructure projects, in particular the rail line that would connect Budapest, Belgrade and Greece, including the Greek port of Piraeus.

We also discussed the economic cooperation between China and Serbia, which was practically defined during the meeting of our prime ministers in December last year, the Serbian foreign minister noted.

Dacic said that the Chinese foreign minister invited him to visit China this year, and added that the cooperation will be continued at various other multilateral conferences such as UN conferences.

Dacic said that, in his capacity as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, he also met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday to brief him on the OSCE mission in Ukraine and the topics to be discussed at the UN Security Council session on the cooperation between the UN, which celebrates its 70th anniversary, and OSCE, which marks its 40th anniversary.
