Earlier on Friday, a spokesman for Germany's Federal Aviation Office stated that the co-pilot of Germanwings Flight 9525 Andreas Lubitz had a medical condition that was noted in his pilot's medical certificate "SIC", meaning "specific regular examination".
However, the spokesman could not say whether the condition was related to his mental or physical health.
As Holger Kasperski stated characteristically to Wall Street Journal: "We have a pilot license and a medical certificate. There is a SIC record. SIC means specific regular examination. We don't know what condition it refers to".
Furthermore, spokesman for Germany's Federal Aviation Office Holger Kasperski was unable to confirm earlier report of Bild, according to which "SIC" possibly concerns serious mental issues.
It is worth mentioning that the latest medical examination of Andreas Lubitz dates July 2014 and according to the spokesman, the certificate must be renewed every year.
