Prosecutor's office: Crew primarily responsible for crash

BELGRADE - Crew members are primarily responsible for the recent crash of a military helicopter in which seven people were killed, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade said on Friday.

Initial findings indicate that the primary responsibility rests with the crew members and that there are grounds for suspicion that a number of active Serbian Armed Forces members are partly to blame as well, and that there also are indications of possible responsibility of a certain number of civilians, the Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

Accordingly, the Prosecutor's Office will take investigative action to fully establish all relevant facts related to the event.

The Mi-17 Serbian Armed Forces transport helicopter was rescuing a five-day-old baby from Novi Pazar on March 13.

The crash killed all four crew members, the baby and two medical professionals.
