SYRIZA outlines its goals at end of Central Committee meeting

SYRIZA’s Central Committee meeting ended on Sunday with the adoption of a draft resolution with conclusions on crucial policy issues. The final draft, after a two-day meeting, included proposed amendments. It was also decided that the party’s congress would be held in mid-April.

The process of political dialogue with the Greek people to be held in the run-up of SYRIZA’s congress was discussed so that “answers to the scenarios constructed and put forward by various centers” concerning alliances could be discussed.
SYRIZA also outlined its next goals in the second period of its governance, noting that “deep and radical” reform should take place.

Addressing the meeting on Saturday, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras noted the need for the party to be more closely linked and involved with the government to ensure that there is mediation between the government and society. The PM said that SYRIZA had to play a leading role in the formation of social relations between the party and society while having an autonomous presence at a grass-roots level in neighborhood, trade unions, places of work, etc.
