Trending on Twitter: Should Greek islanders get the Nobel Prize for compassion shown to refugees?

The Avaaz petition calling for signatures so that Greek islanders can receive a Nobel Prize for their handling of the Greek crisis has gathered more than 630,000 signatures from around the world since it was started in November and is trending on Twitter in Greece with the hashtag #nobel_se_ellines

The deadline for the nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize expired at Sunday midnight, however users are still rushing to vote CLICK HERE

Sources say that three people have already been nominated for the prize. These are:

* Emilia Kamvysi, an 85-year old woman from lesbos

* Stratis Valiamos, a 40-year-old fisherman

* Susan Sarandon, the actress who came to the island a few weeks ago to lend her support to the plight of refugees.
