24-hour national strike on Thursday called by Public Servants union (ADEDY)

All doctors’ and medical staff associations have announced they would participate in the 24 hour national strike called by the national Civil Servants’ Association (ADEDY) for Thursday. The Greek unions are protesting against the proposed changes in the social security system the Greek government is putting forward to close a review by its creditors. Protesters will gather at Klafthmonos Square in Athens at 11 am. The Public hospital employees issued a statement attacking the government for ‘destroying anything left standing in social security, labour and wages, after the two first memoranda’. The National Emergency Centre (EKAB), the state emergency ambulance services will also take part in the strike.
