The Ridiculous Darkness named best play of 50th Bitef
BELGRADE - Wolfram Lotz's the Ridiculous Darkness, directed by the Czech Republic's Dusan David Parízek and produced by Burgtheater Vienna, has been named the best play of the 50th Belgrade International Theatre Festival - Bitef.
The Mira Trailovic Grand Prix was handed out to Parizek by an international jury.
The Jovan Cirilov Special Prize for distinction was shared by Suite No. 2 by Jorise Lacoste (France) and Riding on the Cloud by Rabih Mroue (Lebanon).
Parzizek also took the Best Director Award of the Politika jury for The Ridiculous Darkness.
The 50th anniversary Bitef, held under the motto of On the Back of a Raging Bull, closed at the Madlenianum Theatre late Sunday with a performance of Standing Over the Grave of Stupid Europe, a play by Sebastijan Horvat and Milan Markovic Matthis produced by HNK Ivana pl. Zajca of Rijeka, Croatia.
