Dangerous maneuvering
As indicated by recent developments, Greece's judicial system is becoming increasingly toxic. The leftist-led government's maneuvering is a sign of hastiness and indifference to the country's institutions.
That said, incidents such as Friday's heckling of Council of State president Nikos Sakellariou in central Athens are unacceptable and they risk dragging an already dysfunctional country into chaos. There should be no repeat of Friday's incident.
It's time everyone showed respect for the country's institutions. It is also crucial that the Greek judiciary show that their stand is not affected by economic or other criteria, and that they would never drag their feet on a key ruling for reasons of expediency.
