Major drug bust at Igoumenitsa port

Port authorities at Igoumenitsa port, in northwest Greece, have seized a large quantity of drugs discovered on a refrigerated truck entering the country from Italy. The truck's driver, a 57-year-old Greek national, was arrested in connection with the incident.

The drugs, with an estimated market value exceeding €3 million, were discovered following a police dog sniff alert.

The narcotics unit of the port authorities seized just over 317 kg of cannabis, stored in 292 airtight plastic bags hidden inside 34 cardboard boxes, nearly 17 kg of cocaine in 14 plastic bags, and 25.24 kg of crystal methamphetamine in two plastic bags.

Additionally, four plastic containers of acetone, each containing 20 liters and used to dissolve narcotic substances, were found, along with a cocaine pressing mold.
