Fire breaks out on sea bus crossing from Bursa to Istanbul

A fire broke out on a sea bus traveling from Bursa to Istanbul on the morning of Dec. 16, prompting the evacuation of all passengers, Doğan News Agency has reported. 

The fire reportedly started in engine room of the sea bus named "Yıldırım Beyazıt" at 9:00 a.m.

All passengers were evacuated and the fire was extinguished quickly, according to a written statement from the Istanbul Municipality. 

"The fire was extinguished before it spread due to a timely response. The boat docked offshore in Istanbul's Sarayburnu neighborhood for the cooling process and to prevent further possible danger. The passengers were evacuated safely," the statement added.
