IKEA completes construction of first Serbia store

Sweden's furniture retailer IKEA has installed "the IKEA tower" - a 45-meter tall symbol of its store at Bubanj Potok, near Belgrade.

This "symbolically announced the end of works" on this store, the first the company has built in Serbia.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held in April 2016, at this location near the Belgrade-Nis highway, and was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and IKEA's CEO for Southeastern Europe Stefan Vanoverbeke.

The company said in a statement that the store would be opened in the summer, spreading on over 33,000 square meters and offering around 9,500 products.
