89.3% of COVID-19 fatalities in Romania reported with at least one comorbidity

As many as 89.3% of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Romania who died had at least one comorbidity, according to a report by the National Centre for Surveillance and Control of Communicable Diseases with the National Institute of Public Health. In the May 4-10 week, 37.5% of the total cases of infection with the novel coronavirus in Romania were recorded in the counties of Neamt, Suceava, Bacau and Galati counties, and in Bucharest City. At the same time, 38% of the total deaths were recorded in the counties of Galati, Sibiu, Suceava and Mures, and in Bucharest City. The same report shows that one in seven cases of infection has been reported in healthcare workers. According to the report, 76.6% of deaths were in people over 60 and 60.8% of deaths in men.
