European regulators crack down on Big Tech

European regulators have launched a series of probes into Big Tech. In the latest move, the European Commission asked Amazon for more information on its compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA), which requires Big Tech players to do more to tackle illegal and harmful content on their platforms.

Here are some of the actions taken by European watchdogs against big technology companies:

European Union

The European Commission (EC) has asked Amazon to provide detailed information by July 26 on the measures the US e-commerce giant has taken to comply with its DSA obligations, especially its compliance with provisions concerning transparency of the recommender systems.

The EC, which acts as the EU competition enforcer, charged Meta on July 1 for failing to comply with its Digital Markets Act (DMA) in its new pay or consent advertising model.
