Djokovic beats Nadal at Paris Olympics

PARIS - Serbia's Novak Djokovic is through to the third round of the men's tennis singles event at the Olympic tournament in Paris after a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Spaniard Rafael Nadal on Monday afternoon.

Djokovic, who won after an hour and 44 minutes of play on the Roland Garros centre court, is now 31-29 head-to-head against Nadal.

Djokovic will next face the winner of the tie between Italian Matteo Arnaldi and German Dominik Koepfer.

On Sunday, Serbian Dusan Lajovic failed to qualify for the second round following a 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 defeat to German Maximilian Merterer after two hours and 43 minutes of play.
