Attiki Odos: Approval Granted by the Court of Audit for the New €3.3 Billion Contract

The path is now clear for the new concession contract for Attiki Odos, following approval from the Court of Audit. The High Court’s approval was granted swiftly, aligning with the goal of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) to financially close the concession contract, likely by the end of the year. Note that the related request was submitted on July 5.

The goal is to sign the contract within September and subsequently have the new law for the contract ratified by the Hellenic Parliament. The final step will be the financial closing.

GEK TERNA had won the bid in September 2023 for the 25-year operation, financing, maintenance, and exploitation of the motorway, submitting an offer of €3.27 billion.

The current concession contract expires in October 2024, after which Attiki Odos will be managed by the State until GEK TERNA takes over. The company will need to wait a few months for the bureaucratic processes to be completed, aiming to take over and operate the major axis of Attica within 2025.

Closing

During a recent General Assembly of GEK TERNA, Mr. Giorgos Peristeris estimated that the completion of the procedures for receiving the concession would occur in the first quarter of 2025.
