Though their return to Olympic-level competition after 16 years did not result in a medal, the players under coach Alexia Kammenou gained valuable experience after five losses and two wins.

After the game, both the coach and players were visibly emotional.

Regarding the match itself, Greece led 7-5 at halftime, and with five consecutive goals midway through the third quarter, they secured a strong lead. They added another 5-0 streak in the final 3:40, solidifying their 19-10 victory.
