Government spokesman warns of misinformation dangers

Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis addressed the rapid spread of misinformation during a seminar on fake news.

He cited recent personal experiences, including an online attack following his comments after a recent concert for the victims of the Tempe train accident in 2023.

Marinakis was falsely accused of disrespecting the victims and charging the concert's organizers of trying to whitewash Hamas, which he strongly denied. He emphasized that the concert organizers were family members grieving their loss.

Marinakis also criticized the dangerous impact of fake news on both political and national levels.

He stressed the need for responsible media, calling on the government, journalists and institutions to stand against those who distort reality. Marinakis highlighted that this issue is crucial to safeguarding Greece's national interests.
