Suspect in Athens apartment blast remanded in custody

A 31-year-old man allegedly involved in an explosion inside an apartment in central Athens last week that killed one man and seriously injured a woman was sent to pre-trial detention after testifying before an investigative magistrate on Tuesday.

The man, along with two more suspects arrested over the explosion, are facing charges of participating in a terrorist organization and involvement in terrorist acts.

On Tuesday, he denied the accusations and claimed that he was not at the scene of the explosion, but also that the mother of the owner of the apartment, who lives in the Netherlands, had given him the keys to the house to him and his 30-year-old partner.
