Attempted break-in at American diplomat’s home

An attempted break-in occurred at the residence of an American diplomat in Filothei on Sunday afternoon, according to state broadcaster ERT.

Unidentified individuals climbed onto the first-floor balcony and entered the interior of the two-story maisonette through the bathroom window, according to the report.

However, the diplomat's wife spotted one of the intruders in time and shouted, startling the burglar, who fled the property without stealing anything.

According to police sources, the house is occupied by a 59-year-old American diplomat employed at the US Embassy and his wife, a Puerto Rican national and holder of a US passport.

A forensic team arrived at the scene to search for fingerprints and genetic material. Security cameras reportedly captured the perpetrators' movements.
