Marinakis rebukes Samaras: ‘We expect him to look to the future, not dwell on 1993’

Commenting on the expulsion of former New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, accused him of adopting falsehoods and crossing the line, during a press conference on Monday.

"Mr Samaras crossed the line of constructive criticism and expressed an unwarranted attack on the prime minister and the president of Cyprus, referring to 'frivolities.' It is unhelpful to undermine the unity between Athens and Nicosia," he said. 

The Greek government announced on Saturday the expulsion of Samaras from the ruling party after he openly accused New Democracy of following a policy of appeasement towards Turkey.

He accused the former prime minister of adopting falsehoods and continuing distortions, implying disloyalty by the foreign minister. Marinakis described Samaras's remarks as an unjust and aggressive deconstruction of the government...
