Psychiatrist Dimitris Souras passes away

Dimitris Souras took his last breath at the age of 72. The well-known psychiatrist had been hospitalized in critical condition following a diagnosis of a bacterial infection.

On Dimitris Souras’s personal social media accounts, a post was published stating:
“Thank you all for your love!!! I address all of you who loved me and whom I loved from end to end! I learned, I spoke, I lived! Now it’s your turn! I will follow you from above…”

The post was shared by his daughter according to his wishes. Before his passing, he had requested that she publish his farewell message on social media.

According to reports from his close circle, the psychiatrist had traveled to Egypt and became ill upon his return. Initially, he visited a hospital complaining of back pain, believing it to be lumbago. After receiving treatment, he returned home, but a few days later developed a very high fever. He returned to the hospital, where tests revealed a bacterial infection. Dimitris Souras passed away while under hospital care.

Born in 1952 in Volos, Souras lived there until the age of 18. He went on to study at the Medical School and specialized in Psychiatry at various hospitals in Athens and abroad (Italy, France, and the U.S.). Over the last 20 years, he worked as a private psychiatrist-psychotherapist, served as the Director of the Psychiatric Clinic at “Metropolitan” Hospital, and was the Consulting Psychiatrist for the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center on pre- and post-transplant evaluations. He was married to Eleni Marouda and had a daughter, Niki.
