NATO's newly appointed Secretary General, Mark Rutte, will visit Athens next Tuesday for a meeting with the Greek Prime Minister and government officials.

He is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, and Defense Minister Nikos Dendias.

The day before, Rutte will visit Ankara to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, along with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defense Minister Yaşar Güler. He will also meet with defense industry representatives and visit related facilities in Turkey.

The visit comes at a turbulent time for the alliance. An emergency NATO-Ukraine summit will be held in Brussels on December 3-4, following the launch of a Russian ballistic missile and new threats and warnings issued by Vladimir Putin on Friday night.
