Fiber-optic infrastructure for 11 Aegean islands

Cosmote has undertaken to develop seven new submarine fiber-optic infrastructure works in the Aegean as a member of the consortium of companies implementing the European Sea-Spine project.

The latter aims to serve the telecommunications needs of 11 islands, including the creation of the required onshore work, in addition to that under the sea.

The aim of the project, worth 24.5 million euros, is to meet the need for uninterrupted connectivity and increased network capacity.

As a result, a submarine network of 563 kilometers will be installed to interconnect Amorgos, Astypalaia, Kos, Sifnos, Folegandros, Evia, Chios, Lesvos, Limnos, Thassos and Skyros.
