Suspect in Ambelokipi blast case faces trial for 2020 attack on university rector
A 26-year-old man whose fingerprint was allegedly found inside a plastic garbage bag retrieved from an apartment in Athens' Ambelokipi district where an explosive device accidentally detonated in October, is one of the chief suspects in a 2020 attack on the former rector of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).
According to police, the 26-year-old's fingerprint was identified inside a garbage bag containing a CZ pistol that was found in the debris of the blast. The suspect is expected to appear before a prosecutor on Wednesday.
This was the second fingerprint found on the bag. Previously, the fingerprint of 31-year-old Nikos Romanos was also discovered on its outside surface which led to his pre-trial imprisonment.
