The weather is expected to worsen starting Friday, according to meteorologists.
Thodoros Kolydas, Director of the National Weather Service, forecasts cold weather and snowfall in the central and northern regions of Greece. This will be accompanied by a significant drop in temperature from Sunday, December 1. Meteorologists Clearchos Marousakis, Giorgos Tsatrafillas, Tasos Arniakos, and Sakis Arnaoutoglou provide additional insights:
- Kolydas anticipates showers and thunderstorms starting Friday, intensifying over the weekend with locally heavy rainfall.
- Marousakis warns of an organized wave of bad weather, including snow in semi-mountainous areas.
- Tsatrafillas describes a “cold lake” of air that could trigger strong storms and heavy snowfall across the country.
- Arniakos predicts snow on Saturday night and Sunday in central and northern mountains, Euboea, the Peloponnese, and semi-mountainous regions of Pindos and Macedonia.
- Arnaoutoglou expects snowfall as low as 1,000m in altitude, especially in Western Macedonia and northern areas, alongside widespread heavy rain.
