Alimos to become the seaplane hub of Athens
Alimos is evolving into a hydroplane hub, as Athens is about to receive seaplanes for the first time after half a century.
The Hellenic Navy General Staff and the competent authorities for the maritime area of Alimos, southern Athens, have issued the necessary license for the operation of a hydroplane strip at the Athens Riviera.
As Hellenic Seaplanes confirmed on Tuesday, the Athens suburb will soon be linked by air with the island of the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, the Sporades and the Northern Aegean, as well as the Ionian Sea and the seaside destinations of the Peloponnese.
Hellenic Seaplanes, which has undertaken the project of the licensing of Alimos, is now proceeding with the inclusion of Attica in its network of water air fields, offering Athenians and visitors alike a fast and attractive means of transport to the Greek islands and other destinations.
