One of eight suspects remanded over attack on Mesolongi police station

One of eight people arrested on Wednesday night after an attack on a police precinct in Mesolongi, western Greece, was remanded in pretrial custody on Friday.

Two other suspects, aged 19 and 20, were released on bail, while the other five were granted unconditional release.

Truck brings down electricity pole in Piraeus

A truck plowed into an electricity pole in the coastal city of Piraeus on Friday, causing a blackout in the area close to central Hatzikyriakou Street, where the accident occurred.

There was no information suggesting why the truck, which had been parked on a slope, careened into the electricity pole, as well as a garbage bin and parked cars.

No one was injured.

Tsochatzopoulos appeal postponed until November 14

The appeal of former Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos, currently serving 20 years for accepting bribes in exchange for weapons contracts, was postponed until November 14 on Friday as the court examines a slew of objections filed by his defense.

Police looking for dark SUV used in Athens drive-by shooting

Police were seeking two men in connection with a deadly drive-by shooting at Vathis Square in central Athens early on Friday.

A 44-year-old Greek man was killed in the attack and an Albanian woman was injured.
