Pakistan to free on bail National Geographic 'Afghan girl'
An Afghan woman immortalized on a National Geographic magazine cover is to be freed on bail days after being arrested in Pakistan for fraud, a government minister said Oct. 30.
The haunting image of Sharbat Gula, taken in a Pakistan refugee camp by photographer Steve McCurry in the 1980s, became the most famous cover image in the magazine's history.
Serbia Tabloid Accused of 'Polluting' Book Fair
The Belgrade International Book fair was once the haunt of famous writers and publishers - which explains why the Serbian tabloid "Informer" has encountered a good deal of criticism on Twitter for luring guests of a very different type to this year's fair.
They included actors, sportsmen, a folk singer, a reality TV star, an astrologist and a hair-dresser.
Albanians Rally Against Power Plants and Trash Imports
Chanting "Don't touch Valbona" and "No Waste Imports in Albania", several thousand Albanians attended a protest concert on Sunday in Tirana, invited by a group of artists from Albania and Kosovo who offered a free show dedicated to environmental issues.
The mainstream media in the country did not cover the event.
Russian soldiers headed for Serbia for "Slavic Brotherhood"
More than 150 members of the Ivanovski Battalion of Russia's Airborne Troops (VDV) are due to arrive in Serbia for a joint military exercise.
The Russians will participate in the exercise, dubbed "Slavic Brotherhood 2016," together with Serbian soldiers. They will also be joined by members of the Belarus military.
Receivable restructuring applications hit record high levels: Finance minister
The law on the Restructuring of Certain Public Receivables, also referred to as the "Tax Amnesty," entered into force back in August, enabling the restructuring of outstanding tax and other public receivables and also providing an opportunity to Turkish companies to close their accounts against potential tax audits through voluntary tax base increases.
