Union announces another major UK rail strike in late July

Train drivers at eight British rail companies will go on strike later this month in the second large-scale industrial action set to affect commuters in July.

The Aslef train drivers' union said its members will walk out for 24 hours on July 30 over pay disputes.

German airports want longer-term employment for Turkish staff

German authorities have approved temporary employment of people from Türkiye to fill the staff shortage at the country's airports, but airport operators demand longer-term employment.

Under a temporary arrangement, Turkish employees will be able to work at German airports until Nov. 6.

New security measures taken at hospital doors: Health Ministry

In a bid to detect illegal substances or objects that could endanger the safety of a patient or a doctor, "door security systems" has begun to be installed in hospitals, the Health Ministry has announced.

Istanbul Opera Festival kicks off

The 13th International Istanbul Opera Festival will start with the "7 Tenor" concert at Haliç Congress Center Open Air Stage on July 16. The event will feature four major opera works and a concert to be staged by the Ankara, Istanbul and Antalya State Opera and Ballet Directorates until July 30. All works within the scope of the festival will be staged at 9 p.m.
