PM discusses bilateral relations, Middle East with US Congress delegation

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed relations between Greece and the United States, the situation in the Middle East and the latest developments in Ukraine with a visiting delegation of the US Congress in Athens on Thursday. 

During the meeting, the two sides also focused on the Greek-American defense cooperation. 

The US delegation was led by Senator Jerry Moran.

Trade deficit rises 13 percent in April to $9.9 billion

Türkiye's trade deficit widened by 12.9 percent in April from a year ago to stand at $9.9 billion, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

Exports inched up 0.1 percent annually to $19.25 billion, while imports surged 4 percent compared with April last year to $29.1 billion.

Economic confidence index slips in May

The economic confidence index declined for a second month in a row in April, a survey conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has shown.

The index fell 0.8 percent in May from the previous month to 98.2, the statistics authority said on May 31, which came on top of the 1 percent decline in April.

Bulgarian Businesses Struggle with AI Adoption

According to data from Eurostat, only 3.6% of Bulgarian businesses with 10 or more employees utilized artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to manage their operations in 2023. This places Bulgaria among the lowest-ranking countries in the European Union in terms of AI adoption.
