Kusturica's Kustendorf Festival opens
The event, founded by Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica, is held each year in the village of Mokra Gora, on Mt. Zlatibor, in the west of the country.
Sorrentino declared the festival open after he received the Tree of Life Award for Future Films.

Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is to chair the jury that will pick the award winners at this year's Cannes Film Festival, reported BBC.
She is "a rare and unique artist with talent and conviction", the Cannes Film Festival organisers said.

France's Deauville American film fest opens with Twin Peaks' Laura Dern
The 43rd edition of France's Deauville American Film Festival opened late on Sept. 1 in the Normandy seaside resort with a tribute to American actress Laura Dern.
The festival, a showcase for American cinema, will run for ten days and offer 14 films in the official competition. Dern appeared on the red carpet in a dress covered in blue and white feathers.
