Rare rough ruby goes on show in Dubai ahead of auction
A rare rough ruby dubbed one of the world's biggest has gone on display for the first time ahead of an auction in the Gulf emirate of Dubai.
The 8,400-carat stone, nicknamed Burj Alhamal and weighing 2.8 kilograms, was mined in Tanzania and made its debut at a Dubai hotel on Friday as part of SJ Gold and Diamond's Callisto collection.

Cycling star Pogačar defends UAE Tour title
Dubai – Slovenian cycling star Tadej Pogačar, who rides for UAE Team Emirates, won the 2022 UAE Tour on Saturday after winning the race’s final stage to defend his title from 2021 and start the new season with a bang.
This is Pogačar’s second UAE Tour win in addition to two white jerseys for the best young rider in 2020 and 2021.

‘Most beautiful building on Earth’ opens in Dubai
Dubai opened its Museum of the Future on Feb. 22, a spectacular structure it is touting as the world's most beautiful building.
The museum, a seven-storey hollow silver ellipse decorated with Arabic calligraphy of quotes from Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, and thousands of meters of LED lights, takes pride of place on Sheikh Zayed Road, the city's main highway.
