Inspectorate proposes action against officials over floods
The general inspector for public administration, Maria Papaspyrou, has called for local authority officials to face disciplinary action following last week's serious flooding at Mandra in western Attica, where flash floods last November resulted in the deaths of 20 people.

The mayor of Mandra, the town in western Attica where 20 people died in flash floods last November, said on Wednesday that there has been no progress in flood-prevention work pledged by the government.
Flood aid approved for western Attica
The Attica Regional Authority has announced works to the tune of 6.7 million euros to repair damage wrought by the catastrophic floods in Mandra, western Attica, on November 15 last year.
Regional Governor Rena Dourou and the Mayor of Mandra-Eidyllia Ioanna Kriekouki approved 4.35 million euros to repair damage to existing roads and pavements in Mandra.

Mitsotakis promises to complete anti-flood works
New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis pledged on Wednesday to ensure that major flood protection works are completed.

Authorities on Monday revised the death toll from the western Attica flash floods earlier this month to 23 after the reported death of an elderly woman who was being treated in a hospital for hypothermia and extensive leg injuries.
Emergency funds released to repair water supply in flood-hit towns
The Interior Ministry on Friday approved the disbursement of 250,000 euros in emergency funding to repair water pipes in western Attica that were damaged in last week's deadly floods.
