Fire truck falls into gorge, killing firefighter
A fire truck patrolling the Kotsikia area in northeastern Evia plunged into a gorge on Friday, killing one firefighter and injuring another, according to reports.

With a total amount of 10,150,000 euros, 22 Municipalities, two municipal enterprises and four Regions of the country are subsidized, to support the fire victims and the restoration of the damages from the fires of the last weeks.

The search for an elderly couple that went missing in a flash flood on the island of Evia over the weekend continued at first light on Tuesday, with dozens of rescue workers and a drone scouring the area around the village of Mantoudi for the pair.
Missing man, 27, found alive on Evia, search continues for couple
Members of Greece's EMAK search and rescue unit on Monday located a 27-year-old man who had been reported missing near Mantoudi, on Evia, which was hard hit by flooding over the weekend when a tropical-style storm dubbed Zorbas swept across mainland Greece.
The man was spotted on an islet in a flooded area between the villages of Mantoudi and Prokopi.

Three people were reported missing in Greece on Sunday after swirling winds and torrential rain brought flash floods in several parts of the country.
A rare type of tropical storm known as a Medicane began on Saturday and has so far mostly affected areas on the island of Evia, east of mainland Greece, and the southern Peloponnese peninsula.
