Yellow Code for Cold Weather in 12 Areas in Bulgaria

A yellow code for dangerous cold weather has been announced in 12 districts in Western and Central Bulgaria for today, Feb. 24.

Temperatures in Sofia, Sofia, Pernik, Lovech, Gabrovo, Targovishte, Razgrad and Shumen will remain negative throughout the day. In the mountainous part of Montana, Vratsa and Veliko Tarnovo, the daily temperatures will also remain below zero, BNR reported.

Record High Number of Participants Expected in the Mummers Festival in Pernik

Some 7,500 participants from 9 countries are expected to take part in this year's edition of the international mummers festival "Surva" in Bulgaria's town of Pernik. They will present customs and traditions of ancient origin. The festival will run from 25th to 27th of January, reports BNT.

Code Yellow warning for snowfall has been issued for 11 Bulgarian regions for today, 9 January, according to the website of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology. The warning is in place for Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Sofia - city, Sofia, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan.

Romanian Journalist Detained in Bulgaria while Investigating European Funds Fraud
