Thessaloniki also known as Thessalonica, Salonika or Salonica, is the second-largest city in Greece and the capital of the region of Macedonia. Greeks consider it like συμπρωτεύουσα (the associated-capital) of the Northern Greece. Indeed, Thessaloniki was already the largest city of the Byzantine Empire after Constantinople.
Illegal cigarettes seized in Thessaloniki warehouse
Members of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) confiscated over 1.3 million packs of contraband cigarettes in a warehouse located the area of Kalochori, near the northern port city of Thessaloniki on Tuesday, Greek police said in a statement on Wednesday.
A truck bearing Bulgarian plates and heating devices were also discovered in the warehouse, according to early reports.
Rail traffic Belgrade - Thessaloniki, Sofia back to normal

Thessaloniki's Nikis Avenue to be turned over to pedestrians on Sunday
