Turkish energy firm Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST) held onto the top spot on Fortune magazine's top 500 Turkish companies list in terms of net sales.

EXIST's sales last year totaled 839 billion Turkish Liras ($36.1 billion), rising 4.9 percent from 2022, according to a statement issued by the magazine.

Turkish daily Akşam's editor-in-chief, Murat Kelkitlioğlu, has been sentenced to pay compensation worth 3,000 Turkish Liras to Doğan Group Honorary Chairman Aydın Doğan over a column that he wrote about Doğan. 

Azerbaijan's state-run energy company SOCAR, a majority stakeholder of Turkish petrochemical maker Petkim, is aiming to make an additional investment worth up to $3 billion in Turkey, SOCAR Turkey chair Vagif Aliyev has said.

"SOCAR is working on a new investment for petrochemical products. The new facility may become a second Petkim," Aliyev said in an interview in Baku.

Doğan Group Honorary Chairman Aydın Doğan has declared a case into one of the group's former companies, Petrol Ofisi, to be entirely devoid of any legal or concrete basis during the latest hearing into the case on May 8.

OMV CEO Rainer Seele said the company has received initial bids for Petrol Ofisi, a leading company in the Turkish oil products retail and wholesale market, on Nov. 9. 

The initiated a process to sell up to 100 percent of its wholly owned subsidiary OMV Petrol Ofisi A. S. last February. 

Do?an Holding Deputy President of Corporate Communications Ahter Kutadgu has said the group will open a lawsuit against Petrol-?? President Ali Ufuk Ya?ar for his "baseless" accusations over Petrol Ofisi's acquisition process. 

Ya?ar has claimed the privatization process of Petrol Ofisi was not transparent. 

Ahter Kutadgu, the deputy president of Do?an Holding responsible for corporate communication, has slammed false reports on several media outlets which continue to smear the company over unfounded claims over Petrol Ofisi. 

Ayd?n Do?an, the honorary chairman of the Do?an Group, and Ersin Özince, the head of the ?? Bank executive committee, have allegedly formed an "organized crime body" to carry out certain operations of Petrol Ofisi, a fuel distributor once owned by Do?an Holding before all of its shares were sold to Austria's OMV in 2010.

HOW CAN A NON-EXISTENT TAX BE EVADED? The indictment issued by Adem Meral, an Istanbul prosecutor who seeks up to 24.5 years in prison for Ayd?n Do?an, the Honorary Chairman of Turkey's leading Do?an Holding, is full of mistakes and contradictions. For instance, it is impossible to collect or evade a tax for an import transaction that is not taxed in legislation.

Turkey's ?? Bank has ruled of accusations in a recent indictment that its senior managers were involved in fraud and tax evasion in Petrol Ofisi, the Austrian OMV's oil retailer which was owned by Do?an Holding in the past.
