Taxpayers settling tax debts at banks to be charged extra commission
Tax payers opting to settle their debts to the tax services over bank counters will be charged with an extra commission as of Friday, July 28. The decision by the Independent Public Revenues Authority was published in the government gazette on Tuesday. The decision also determines the charges that the public revenue authority will pay per transaction at banks for taxes.
Prison guard hospitalized after assault involving inmates
A guard from Nigrita Prison in northern Greece was in hospital with a fractured rib Friday after being set upon by a group of inmates who beat him in the early hours of the morning. The attack began at around 1 a.m. when the guard responded to a request for help by one of the inmates.

UPD-One child suffered a fracture when a school bus from the Vamvakofyta primary school was run off the road by a truck and capsized on the 39km of the rural road between Serres and Kavala in northern Greece Friday morning.

Protesters Renew Blockade at Two Checkpoints on Bulgarian-Greek Border
Protesters have renewed blockade at two of the checkpoints along the border between Bulgaria and Greece.
The Kulata-Promachonas and Ilinden-Exochi checkpoints are closed to trucks, the interior ministry informs.
The blockade at Ilinden was staged at 22 o'clock (EET) on Tuesday, while Kulata was closed at 5 o'clock on Wednesday.
