E-exports expected to reach $8 billion this year: Minister
The volume of Türkiye's e-exports is expected to increase to $8 billion at the end of 2024, according to Trade Minister Ömer Bolat.
The country's e-exports soared 131 percent last year to exceed $5 billion, said the minister, who delivered a speech at the Global E-Export Summit (IGEXX) in Istanbul on Sept. 4.
Türkiye in top 10 in electric vehicle sales in Europe
Türkiye ranked ninth in Europe, ahead of Italy, in terms of the number of electric vehicles (EV) sold in the first eight months of 2024.
From January and July, a total of 41,371 EVs were sold in the country, marking a staggering 159 percent increase from a year ago.

The Montenegrin authorities have extradited Binali Camgöz, the head of an İzmir-based criminal syndicate, to Türkiye following an extensive diplomatic effort led by the Turkish intelligence agency.
Camgöz, wanted in Türkiye for an array of serious offenses, including homicide, drug trafficking, assault, extortion and property damage, fled to Georgia in 2018.

Türkiye’s foreign trade deficit plunges 42 percent in July
Türkiye's foreign trade deficit declined by 41.8 percent year-on-year in July to $7.3 billion as exports rose and imports dwindled, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.
Exports amounted to $22.5 billion last month, increasing 13.8 percent from July 2023, but imports plunged 7.8 percent annually to $29.8 billion, TÜİK said on Aug. 28.
