Be?ikta? has drawn against Club Brugge Feb. 27 in the Europa League Round of 16, following its major victory over Premier League giant Liverpool. 

The first leg of the tie will be played on March 12 in Bruges, while the return leg is scheduled for March 19 in Istanbul.

The European Commission made three demands towards Bulgaria in terms of complying with the legislative norms of the Union Thursday.

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep qualified for the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships, a tournament with a prize fund of $2,513,000, after defeating Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. After struggling at the start of the match, Halep resurged and ended with a sweeping victory.

Greece press freedom has risen slightly to 91st place on the World Press Freedom Index 2015 from 99th place last year (when it plummeted 14 places). The index ranks the performance of 180 countries in a number of sectors such as media pluralism and independence, press freedom and safety as well as the legislative infrastructure that governs the media.

Bulgaria's Economy Ministry mulls increasing the lower threshold for VAT registration from BGN 50 000 to BGN 200 000 in a bid to curb the informal sector, according to Economy Minister Bozhidar Lukarski.

US President Barack Obama on Feb. 18 urged Western and Muslim leaders to unite to defeat the "false promises of extremism" and reject jihadists' claims to represent Islam.        

The ambassadors of seven EU member states issued a joint statement on Tuesday, calling on the Bulgarian government to implement the judicial reforms it had set out to achieve.

The statement was signed by the ambassadors of France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Finland and the charge d'affaires of the United Kingdom.
