A Greek-owned, Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier that came under attack by Yemen's Houthi rebels earlier this week had a cargo of grain bound for Iran, the group's main benefactor, French authorities said Thursday.

A Greek-operated but Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier off the Yemeni coast took on water after being targeted with three missiles, maritime security and shipping sources have said.

Greek-owned bulk carrier "Yannis" came under missile attack by Yemen's Houthis while crossing the Red Sea on Thursday, AFP reports.

Reportedly, the attack took place 68 miles off the Yemeni port of Hudayda and caused no damage to the ship.
