Deposition by GD MP postponed to June 30
The deposition by Golden Dawn lawmaker Artemis Matthaiopoulos scheduled for Monday has been postponed to June 30.
The extension was granted by special magistrates Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitropoulou who are leading an investigation into whether the neofascist party constitutes a criminal organization.
The decision was made following a request for the dismissal of the two magistrates filed by jailed GD leader Nikos Michaloliakos earlier this month.
The request is based on allegations that Stathis Boukouras, a Golden Dawn MP who left the party in May after claiming that he was unaware of its “criminal activities,” was being coerced by the investigators to testify against the party.
Depositions by several other GD lawmakers have also been postponed.
In a related development, a series of photographs published in the Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper on Monday show Michaloliakos, his second-in-command Christos Pappas and the party's spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris performing the Nazi salute in front of Nazi flags, evidence that is expected to strengthen the case of the magistrates.
